Mr. Tran Viet Anh has more than 30 years of experience participating in Associations, Enterprises Associations, participating in the establishment of Young Business Association from 1994-1995, participating in establishing Ho Chi Minh City Plastic and Rubber Association from first day. In the role of Vice Chairman of the HCM City Business Association, Chairman & Vice Chairman of many Associations, Business Clubs … regularly organizes Trade and Trade Promotion programs with other Provincial Associations with aims to promote trade connections and investment opportunities across the country. He coordinates with other departments and associations to organize seminars, professional training to disseminate new policies of the State and the city in the period of economic integration. As a bridge between members and concessional loan organizations, he’s helping enterprises to develop their production and business activities.

Experiences on policy development and urban waste management solutions in Japan

Hideki Wada is a Japanese expert and consultant on recycling and solid waste management with more than 40-year experiences. He worked in Japan for Japanese governments, before he started to support Southeast Asian countries since 1998. He worked internationally for Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and has finally come back to Hanoi, Vietnam after he worked as the team leader of a JICA Study Team (2014-2018) for Vietnam.

He was extensively involved in recycling and waste management issues including public education, recycling industry development, waste separate collection, treatment facility planning for both domestic and industrial waste. His working principle using system engineering approach is 1) problem definition, 2) scientific and quantitative analysis by using various mathematical tools, and 3) suitable and innovative solution drawing.

His recent achievements in Vietnam are widely ranged represented by 1) separate collection introduction, 2) Waste-to-Energy project formulations, 3) research projects for ocean plastic issues, and 4) contribution to EPR policies toward a circular economy.

Calculation of domestic solid waste service prices by waste

Mr. Norihisa Hirata has been a solid waste management consultant since 1995, has participated in many field surveys and solid waste management planning in the past 27 years. In 2001, Mr. Hirata participated in developing guidelines for the application of a solid waste service charge through discharge system (PAYT system) for the Tama area of Tokyo as one of the prominent drafting team members is the first manual on this system in Japan. Parallel to domestic projects, Mr. Hirata started participating in overseas projects in 2002. His first foreign project was carried out in Thailand on building a waste separation system at the source. Until now, Mr. Hirata has worked in Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Palau… Vietnam is the second foreign country Mr. Hirata started consulting work on waste management. Since 2006, Mr. Hirata has participated in many projects in Vietnam including building a waste separation system at the source and setting up a project of burning waste to recover energy. Recently, Mr. Hirata has also been involved in the development of environmentally friendly products such as materials from water hyacinth, or products from urban resources (scrap) of Urban Resource Management Company ( URM) is a subsidiary of Vietnam Waste Planning (VWP).
